Meet the Coaches

Stephanie Byerly, MD

I help women physicians who are exhausted, overextended, and feel like they are failing at everything, take back control of their lives.  All so they can get joy back in their personal and professional lives, and don’t have to leave medicine.

I have many interests, including coaching on trauma, navigating and succeeding in leadership roles and promotions, relationships with narcissists, burnout, and individuals who have been exposed to loved ones with addiction.

I am passionate about helping women physicians live their best lives and realize they are ENOUGH!!

Seema M. Desai, DDS

I find so much joy in coaching doctors (especially women) on how to maximize their potential, boost their well-being, and create transformational success for themselves--whatever what that success looks like to them.

I spent years checking off the boxes that other people said I needed to in order to live a "good life." I felt guilty about having the success I did, because it wasn't the success I wanted.  I wound up feeling completely devoid of passion and joy, despite looking like I had it all together from the outside.  It was my own experiences around postpartum depression and the healing that came after it that allowed me to see my own Truth.  It is living that Truth that allows me to be so passionate about helping others to do the same.

Apart from being a general dentist, speaker, and certified professional coach, I'm also the author of a children's book aimed at helping kids navigate their emotions, titled "Connected: Discovering Your Inner Guides."  I'm also a wife, mom, and yoga-lover.  Most of my philanthropic work is directed at creating learning equality in the underserved children of the world as Co-President of the Austin chapter of Pratham USA.

Joanne Sotelo, MD

I am Joanne Sotelo, I am a Psychiatrist and a Life and High-Performance Coach. I help women physicians conquer their overwhelm and create defined steps towards their dreams to regain harmony, avoid burnout, and live a fulfilling and joyful life.

I have a mission of bringing mental health awareness and prevention especially for health care workers. In collaboration with one of our other coaches, Dr. Trina Dorrah, we have been running a comprehensive and longitudinal Burnout to Wellness Group Coaching Programs for Physicians at our institution.

I am a best-selling author, I enjoy cooking, reading, personal development and spending time with my family.

I am from Puerto Rico which helps me understand the cultural differences and expectations, and best of all, I can coach you in Spanish.

Arpita Gupta DePalma, MD

I established Thought Work, MD to help professional women learn how to identify, manage, and then let go of what is not serving them via professional mindset coaching. In my journeys as a wife, mother, pediatrician, CEO/entrepreneur, practice administrator and a certified mindset coach for women professionals, I have witnessed the power of sound professional mindset coaching and how transformational your mind can be.

I enjoy working with women who struggle with the regret of their misdirected anger and the frustrations in their life by helping them recognize that oftentimes other underlying thoughts pertaining to areas such as self-worth, perfectionism, and time management are what contribute to their anger. I specialize in anger management, time management, perfectionism and self-worth issues, parenting and cultural disparities, and general mindset coaching.

Women physicians work hard. We juggle multiple hats. We are tired, yet we delay our own self-care and celebrations in the interest of others, ultimately at our own expense.

It’s time to put yourself first.

Let me help you empower yourself… to become exceptional.

Trina Dorrah, MD

Hi! I’m Trina Dorrah. I’m an internal medicine hospitalist and an emotional eating coach. I help women end emotional eating (and the shame that comes with it) by teaching them how to finally stop overeating so they can create a life they want that doesn’t always revolve around food.

I decided to become an emotional eating coach because so many people use food as a way to cope with life. With the stress of the last 2 years, it has only gotten worse. Whether we feel happy, sad, angry, overwhelmed, anxious, or bored…we eat. Eating has become something we do to make ourselves feel better.

And it works…but only temporarily.

I know this pattern well because I lived it for many years until I learned how to stop emotional eating. My life is so much better since I learned these skills, and now I am able to eat what I enjoy, but eat it without bingeing.

I’m a living example that it’s possible to overcome emotional eating. Now, as a certified emotional eating coach, I help other women find the same freedom around food that I’ve found.

Angie Reynolds, MD

Hi, I’m Angie Reynolds.  I became a coach to help women physicians navigate challenges that I personally faced early in my career:  burnout, loneliness, and infertility.

Over the last 10 plus years, I have formally and informally mentored and coached peers and physicians navigating difficult work relationships, unsupportive work environments, job and career changes, bad outcomes, patient complaints, charting challenges and burnout.

The lessons and skills I have learned are vast.

I am committed to helping other female physicians struggle less and love what they do more by leaning into what is authentically you – by that I mean, the essential ‘you’ which is inherently whole, worthy, and wise.

I work with women who feel they have lost or given up part of themselves in the pursuit to become a physician, mother, or both.

Many of my clients are women physicians who are currently in a professional or personal transition.

While some transitions are desired and others are not, I see all transitions as opportunities.

Transition is a space where we can transform and alchemize pain and suffering into something that deepens and strengthens us, providing a new sense of conviction, connection, meaning and purpose.

That propels us forward - often with less effort and more joy.

I am ready to help you ‘mine the gold’ of a change of circumstance - wanted or unwanted - and reclaim and rediscover what it is that matters to you, now and moving forward.

Let’s find and harness the gems of joy, power and magic in your life so you can achieve whatever it is your heart desires.
